The final showcase of talent hosted by and including disabled singer/songwriter Shaun Shears and drag queen Ebony Rose Dark at this year’s Camden Fringe is on tonight, Saturday 20 August at 7pm at The Pirate Castle.
Each night has featured different support acts, from various different fields and genres of art – and the first night sold out.
Shaun said: “I think we are the most open and diverse show because we are a showcase of new talent. You could argue because we both have disabilities. But we are not here to make statements we are here to perform and we are here to give other artists the opportunity to perform.
“Maybe they have been out of the loop. Maybe they have been ill or not had a chance because of lack of confidence. We’ve done Edinburgh together and we’ve done Camden. I’ve played from Egypt to Guildford.
“This is a two-hour bonanza. There are different people every night. We’ve been arguing about who looks better in make-up to decide who opens and closes each night! We’ve been playing Black Jack, Strip Poker, everything! It’s been crazy. We don’t know what’s going to happen! We want to take this Camden tradition of cabaret and give it that velvety underground atmosphere.”
Tickets are £6 and £5 concessions and are available from www.camdenfringe.com
