DJ, actor and comedy songwriter Huw Joseph is performing at Proud Camden tonight (Tuesday 23 August) at 8pm, as part of Camden Fringe.
Born in the UK but raised in Melbourne, Huw has performed over 1000 times publicly on stages varying from 15 people to 15,000 and he can hold down either effortlessly.
Coming directly from commercial breakfast radio for Australia’s largest media outlet Southern Cross Austereo, Huw landed a job on air very quickly in London hosting two weekly shows on UK’s uncensored digital giant Fubar Radio.
He’s been on air at Fubar for 18 months now – one show is with UK actor/comedian/rapper Dow Brown and the other with UK rapper/entrepreneur Mikill Pane.
His one true passion above all else is his original music and full line up known as Huw Joseph and the Immoral Support Band. Inspired by the likes of Frank Zappa, Tim Minchin, Flight of the Conchords, Ween, Tenacious D, Kings of Leon, Jeff Buckley this is not traditional musical comedy, this is musicality meets irreverent lyrics.
You can expect on stage antics, guest actors and some wonderfully constructed melodic pop rock with cheeky lyrical content. It’s very fun!
After it’s inception in Australia seven years ago Huw has since toured several times around Australia and the UK (2009, 2012) performed at dozens of festivals including Edinburgh Fringe, Adelaide Fringe, Melbourne International Comedy Festival plus literally hundreds of venues.
He has built a strong underground following including 10k social media followers and 100k views on YouTube.
Huw Joseph and the Immoral Support Band MICF 2015 review.
“While the show includes several stand-up skits that all merit a laugh, it is the songs that are the highlight especially Wambulance about a ‘upper class girl’, which has a deeper, hilarious hidden meaning. The band is extremely tight you can tell they have a lot of musical experience – keep an eye on these guys!” – Herald Sun
With his debut single WAMBULANCE (a story of 1st world problems) already clocking up 5k listens on SoundCloud, his brand new UK line up band has been touring to gather ground swell to release the single later this year and will be joined at both shows by DJ Lil Rossco and a surprise burlesque star.
“Huw Joseph is a name that is becoming increasingly eminent and synonymous with eclectic comedy music on the local and international arts scene”. Beat Magazine.
